Happy Birthday Single Layer Card

Happy Birthday on the High Seas

My stenciling craze didn't stop with just one card, of course. So here's the second creation of the stamping session.

This time I chose the stencil from the retired Stampin' Up! Hooray It's Your Day Simply Created Kit because it reminded me of ocean waves. While this kit is no longer available, there is a Striped Scallop Thinlit in the current catalog with a very similar pattern that could probably substitute for this stencil.

After taping the stencil and Bashful Blue card stock (also retired, but any light blue card stock would work) with washi tape, I started daubing with my sponge daubers from the bottom up with the following ink colors:
The boat is from the retired Moving Forward set and is stamped in Island Indigo. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Sky is the Limit, a 2016 Sale-a-Bration stamp set, stamped in Night of Navy.

The tops of the "waves" and the details on the boat were outlined with a white gel pen. The bottom of the sail was simply colored in with a Soft Sky marker.

There you have it - one layer and done! Very light-weight and easily mailable.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment. Thanks!
